I find it a bit odd that here you cite approvingly someone criticizing a too tight link of religion and politics, "America as a Christian nation," obsession with sexual sin, while leaving abuse of power unrebuked, etc., yet just below you cite (evidently with approval) the life of St. Volodymyr. Didn't he link Christianity and the Rus' state inextricably? Didn't he make Rus' a Christian nation? Didn't he use state power to force baptism on people and destroy rival shrines? Didn't he impose Christian social and sexual mores on his people while leaving the warlike and aristocratic social structure of Rus' intact?

I would like to suggest that you probably need to think this through a bit more. What really bothers you about the idea of an alliance of revivalist Christianity and the Republican party? Is it the alliance of church and state in general? Or just because you prefer the Orthodox church and the Ukrainian nation?
